I get you. Keto helped me 40 pounds too. But I have remained diet neutral for 7 years now and will continue on this path. I believe having a sustainable fitness goal requires balance. So my lifestyle is eating and drinking in moderation. And once in a while I go a fast.
As you know I was a long term vegan and still believe in the diet for ultimate health. Of course, everyone’s different. But one book that really convinced me to stick with plant based for as long as I did was The China Study by Campbell. I’m not sure if you’ve heard of it but it’s worth a read and you might find the findings on cancer especially interesting.
Thanks Shlee, I think I read that like a 100 years ago and I actually was vegetarian for a while. Ironically my reason for not sticking with it was similar to yours (as I read in one of your articles). It was a lot of work to do it properly. I’m glad I’m changing the name of my newsletter, it wasn’t an easy decision but I want to give people the best info I can find and I want to be free to move wherever the strongest evidence and my body take me. Jeff (husband) has never done keto and is very well informed on health and walks his talk. He has an amazingly positive outlook, doesn’t smoke or drink, takes the most recommended supplements and exercises rigorously most days. By all measures, except genetic (his father died from prostate cancer), he shouldn’t have cancer, but he does and so we are facing it together with the best of ourselves. 🥰
It sounds like Jeff’s on the right track! Good luck (to both of you) navigating his health and reaching full remission.
I like the new name because you’re right, we never know where our bodies might take us next and which dietary needs might change in the future. I like that you’re keeping an open mind.

Yes , diet neutral is probably the way to go long term. I’m taking it gradually though so I don’t rebound
Deb, I’m so sorry to hear about your husband.
